I went herping on the first Sunday (sorry I did not get a chance to call ya Kit) out by the Whitetank Mountains with a friend and his dog...we walked a wash for about a half mile or so and we found a Nightsnake, a Diamondback (which Josh and Harley almost stepped on), a bunch of Whiptails, and 2 Banded Geckos!
Pics of most (except Diamondback pics) to come!
Check the insect site for more of what we saw!

Ah too bad Stinger, I would have loved to join you. Sounds like you had a lot of fun and saw some awesome herps. I saw one herp over the break, just by chance. A gopher snake (I think) was stretched out on my front porch, so I grabbed him by the tail, and then by the head, and I took some photos of him. After a short time I released him into the garden out back. Here's one of the photos I took that I thought turned out really well (sorry it's so big).

Hey Kit, Great pic...what a beautiful snake! You are exactly right it is a gopher snake and what we were talking about yesterday...Bull snakes are a sub-species of Gopher snakes!

This one is for Stinger.... At my sisters house today, in the high desert between Soccoro and Datil, New Mexico, I stumbled upon a beautiful emerald colored Mojave Rattlesnake. It lived up to its name as one of the most aggressive and poisonous snakes around, and wanted to fight me instantly. I peacefully nodded my head and walked away, letting it know that it had won, without a doubt.

Please place all new herp sightings in their own thread on the Herp Sightings Board! Thanks!
