Hey everyone, wow, it has been a while! Hopefully this forum will get going once again!
This morning, it was early, frost bitten, and still dark as hell, and Vito (my dog) and I stood still outside our house listening to a huge influx of Common Poorwills calling from the blackness (along with the normal Great-horned Owl, and Northern Pygmy Owl that are always calling this time of the morning). Laila (my love) and I took off for work down our long, eight mile dirt road, and saw three Common Poorwills sitting in the road, doing their thing. It was amazing! We have seen one off and on all winter, but this was a special day!

What an amazing story! I've never seen a Common Poorwill before, let alone three in one morning!

Come on out to the crater samiam! Birding has been really great out there lately! We have a ton of Pinyon Jays, some Western Scrub Jays, Steller Jays, and three subspecies of Junco (pink-sided, oregon, and dark-eyed).

That sounds good! It would be great to get to hang out with you and the River again. Maybe some time during spring break?

We will definitly be here! I forgot Spring Break was coming up. In fact, during Spring Break, Geoff and I are going to be doing some scouting down in the Verde for Blackhawk sites, and ultimatley that will no doubt turn into just a fun time birding and hiking about. Interested?
