Anyone bird around the ARD (Applied Research and Development, at NAU, Flagstaff, AZ) building before? When I need a break from the computer I go wander about out there, and there have been some great birds every day. Pine Siskens, White-breasted Nuthatch, Hairy Woodpecker and some Steller's Jays in that little part of forest behind Bookman's and Hasting's.
But the pond out front of the ARD building has something new in it every morning. This morning there were two Mallards, and a lone Northern Shovler. On other mornings though I have seen Canada Geese, Buffleheads, and a Ruddy Duck too. It is quickly drying up though (wish we could get some moisture going on up here).

Last week I saw two ravens playing in the snow over there! They would fly over to an unused spot and roll around in it, flapping their wings and kicking their feet up! When they had sufficiently flattened their snow spot they would fly over to a different one.
